    SYNOPSIS
Inspired by true events which took place in 1978 when Italy became the first country in the world to abolish mental asylums. Upon the closure of a mental asylum in Florence, Anja returns home to the care of her brother. For everyone, Anja is a mentally disturbed woman except “crazy” Libero. He is the only one who treats her without prejudice and his child-like innocence allows her to be free. Libero lives with his mother. He did time in a criminal asylums for the accidental murder of his father. Anja and Libero fall in love. They live out their dream under the protection of a secret shack in the middle of a forrest surrounded by coloured trees. When Anja gets pregnant, her family does everything to separate her from Libero and prevent the birth of an “unacceptable Family”.

“A fateful encounter between two kindred souls, shunned by a society that refuses to accept them. This poignant tale delves into the fundamental human right to love, and the challenges faced by those who dare to embrace it”
    British Independent Film Festival

“An intense and enthralling story in which director and two protagonists admirably succeed in showing us love as the motor of emancipation, prejudice and discrimination, evoking the even symbolic value of nature and spirituality”
    Turin Film Festival

“This powerful film brings to life the struggle for love and acceptance, and the beauty of finding it in the most unexpected places”
    Manchester Film Festival
